…and timely implementation
In an interview with a Sydney daily newspaper on Friday 13 April IEU Federal Secretary made the following points:
The IEU:
a) supports the architecture proposed in the Gonski model
b) always expected that there’d be data issues, even Gonski pointed to same
c) that it is important that data is provided in a timely fashion to non-government employing authorities if the Federal Government wants the process to proceed with reasonable urgency (and that this includes the provision of 2010 data now being sought) and
d) that it was now an opportune time for governments to commit to “no worse off in real terms”.
In a concluding statement the reporter was advised that in being commited to implementation it needed to be understood that there is a significant difference between working to implement and immediately implement.
Unless the work underway “get’s it right” then as reported….. rushing to adopt the current Gonski model. ”It won’t just be high-fee schools that would lose out in this, it’s potentially every school in every sort of community,”
As usual it’s a question of context.
