APPA Paper Considered and Thoughtful

“The Australian Primary Principals Association paper Overarching Principles Governing the Reporting and Use of NAPLAN is a welcomed contribution to the debate on NAPLAN testing, said Independent Education Union of Australia Federal Secretary Chris Watt.

“The paper is considered and thoughtful and provides a realistic and educationally sound platform on which further development and improvement of the NAPLAN testing regime can be progressed, he said.
“The IEUA supports a balanced and well-structured diagnostic tool to assist schools and their teachers in delivering high quality educational outcomes for all students.
“It is absolutely critical that diagnostic tools are not used for unintended purposes and do not create such a high stakes environment that educational outcomes for children are put at risk, as evidenced in other countries.
“The establishment of a working party to consider the MySchool website and the relationship with the NAPLAN testing is a welcome initiative consistent with the APPA ‘Principles’..
