“Myths about the actual expenditure on students will be exploded when the real costs of educating students across this vast nation are revealed,” said Independent Education Union of Australia Federal Secretary Chris Watt.

For example, that all government schools are poor and needy while all independent schools are raking it in.

“Not only will we see that government schools receive more money in aggregate from governments than non-government schools, but that overwhelmingly the highest resourced schools per student are government schools.”

“The wealth of financial data that will be available on the new version of MySchool should assist in properly contextualizing some school funding realities.”

“The IEUA congratulates the Australian government on the launch.”

“The website will reveal the total government funding for all schools, which too often has been reported or cited without proper balance.”

“We hope that this information will provide for robust but informed debate on the resource needs for all Australian schools.”

“The IEUA also welcomes new features of the website that seek to minimize the capacity for the creation of league tables of results which in the past have improperly represented the school data.”
