“Minister Garrett’s comments that outstanding issues in relation to the recommendations of the Gonski review need to be undertaken thoroughly and deliberately are welcomed by the IEU,” said Independent Education Union Federal Secretary Chris Watt.
“Whilst the architecture of the model is supported, the IEU is concerned about outcomes of aspects of the modeling.”
“It is critical for all schools, Catholic, independent and public, that we get this right.”
“It would be unfair to not only students but would also threaten the job security and future improvement in our members working lives if we don’t get this right.”
“Calls by some commentators to legislate now are simply reckless.”
“Indeed, there is evidence to suggest that without important reconfiguration of some elements of the model, schools in all sectors could be worse off over time,” said Mr Watt
