It is dishonest to say that the two thirds of students who attend government schools only get one third of the funding. This only reflects the federal government component of school funding. This mis-truth entirely ignores the fact that the state governments have the primary responsibility for funding government schools.
 
It is not correct to say that government schools receive less funding than non-government schools. In fact the average funding per student for non-government schools is about half of what each government school student receives.
 
While it is true that at any one moment around 34% of students attend non-government schools, the fact is that over the entire time a student spends at school from kinder to year 12, almost 50% of all students will at some time attend a non-government school
