The Building the Education Revolution (BER) Taskforce report released today showed that Catholic and Independent schools got value for taxpayers’ money.
The BER Taskforce Report points out that Catholic and Independent schools were accountable and transparent in the way taxpayers’ money was spent with less complaints, good processes, and good quality and value for money.
The report showed that Catholic and Independent schools:
Less than 10% of total complaints (25 of 254 complaints) came from Catholic and Independent schools.
Have spent an above average amount of the money allocated to them.
Of the total number of schools reviewed all but one Catholic school received a tick as receiving value for money, and that school was only rated as marginal.
The Independent Education Union Federal Secretary, Mr Chris Watt said the report demonstrates that Catholic and Independent schools can be trusted with taxpayers’ money and these schools get good value for money.
“The schools that our members work in recognise the value of the BER projects to their school communities and I know the school principals, teachers and parents welcomed the funding.
“Schools welcomed the BER funding as good for their schools and good for the local community, schools like Holy Rosary Catholic School in Claremont TAS and Lighthouse Christian College in Keysborough VIC.
“We know that the BER money was a god send for many of the less well off Catholic and Independent schools, with many being able to build long needed and sort after halls, libraries and other facilities.
“Catholic and Independent schools spent the money well and in a timely manner, with no quality issues across the whole nation,” Mr Watt said.
