Today’s decision by the Fair Work Commission to increase award wages by 3.5% is more good news for workers following a major rebound in wages over the last 3 years.
From 1 July 2025, workers on the minimum wage or base award rates will receive a pay rise that outpaces the current inflation rate of 2.4%, delivering a real boost to their earnings.
The 3.5% increase to award rates follows union campaigns and a commitment by the Federal Labor Government to support a real wage increase.
While the vast majority of IEU members earn above award minimums thanks to the strength of their collective bargaining outcomes, increases to minimum rates play a vital role in restoring the award system that underpins our agreements.

This latest increase builds on the strong wage gains achieved since late 2022, driven by the introduction of fairer bargaining laws and workplace rights for employees.
Thousands of IEU members across multiple states are bargaining right now to build on this positive momentum and secure meaningful cost-of-living relief for themselves and their families.
