The IEU believes that quality education for students with a disability is delivered through the following interconnecting set of principles:
- Quality teaching and support;
- Appropriate and flexible curriculum; and
- Access to services.
Fundamental to the success of these elements is a comprehensive funding arrangement based on nationally consistent definitions, arrangements and processes.
The IEU appreciates this opportunity to provide a submission to the Senate Education and Employment References Committee inquiry into current levels of access and attainment for students with disability in the school system, and the impact on students and families associated with inadequate levels of support.
