Staff in Australia's Schools Survey 2010

The Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) will be conducting the Staff in Australia’s Schools (SiAS) survey in August and September. The survey, which is commissioned by DEEWR, is a vital resource for planning the teacher and school leader workforces.

SiAS is an Australia-wide survey to collect information from school teachers and leaders about their background and qualifications, their work and career intentions, and school staffing issues. The survey involves samples of Primary and Secondary schools in:

·       the Government, Catholic and Independent sectors

·       all States and Territories

The survey can be done on-line and will only take 15-20 minutes. The data are confidential and no school or teacher will be identified.

If invited by ACER, teachers in non-government schools are encouraged to take part. It is vital that the survey collects data and views from representative samples of schools, teachers and leaders.

The IEUA is a member of the project Advisory Committee. The Committee includes representatives of government and non-government school employers, teacher education institutions, principals’ associations, teacher unions and the ABS.

The survey is also supported by the Australian College of Educators (ACE), one of Australia’s foremost professional associations.
