Our Diverse Schooling System - Building a More Socially Cohesive Australia


DEPUTY VICE CHANCELLOR (RESEARCH)

The Independent Education Union of Australia is holding a national forum for stakeholders in the non-government school sector on March 17, 2010.

 

The forum, ‘Our Diverse Schooling System: Building a More Socially Cohesive Australia’ will consider the historic contribution of the non-government school sector in building social capital and the current challenges facing both the sector and school education generally in this context.

 

The IEUA has commissioned research to be conducted by the Edmund Rice Centre on the theme of non-government schools and social cohesion and it is planned to formally release this report at the forum.

 

DEPUTY VICE CHANCELLOR (RESEARCH)

Among the invited participants will be representatives of the Independent Schools Council of Australia and the state/territory Associations of Independent Schools, the national and state/territory Catholic Education Commissions, Catholic systemic and independent school employers, other non-government sector employer representatives, school Principals, professional associations, education academics and commentators.

 

The forum is being held at Old Parliament House in Canberra.

 

This significant event will recognize, celebrate and promote the contribution of non-government schools to a culturally diverse and socially harmonious Australian society.
