One Law For All

South Australian construction worker Ark Tribe, who faced court on Monday 8 June because he refused to attend the hearing with ABCC and inform on workmates to the ABCC

Ark was working on a worksite in Flinders University, Adelaide, where workers drew up a petition regarding the safety issues on the site.  The management had refused to deal with the issues and it took the union bringing in the Government workplace safety officials to get the site problems fixed.  After a few days, things got back on track.

But the story doesn’t end there.  One by one, the workers from the site were called before the ABCC.  Ark has refused to attend.

Because of this Ark was required to appear before the magistrate court in South Australia.

Australia's construction workers don’t have the same rights in their workplace as other workers

For standing up against these unjust laws, Ark Tribe could face up to 6 months in prison. .

Construction workers can be fined $22,000 if they stop work, even over serious safety concerns or if their wages aren't paid. These unfair laws need to be repealed by the Federal Labor Government urgently.

Even the police don't have the powers the ABCC have.

In Ark's words, "If I've done something wrong, I'm prepared to cop it, but I won't be treated unfairly”.
